Joshua Smith

Joshua is a young designer/artist originally from Ardrossan on the Yorke Peninsula in South Australia. Although Joshua has just recently graduated from the University of South Australia specializing in Graphic Design he already has 8 years of experience working both as an artist and a designer.

Within his work Joshua specializes in print design, packaging design, corporate identity and can work just as easily on environmental graphics and wayfinding system projects.

Also working as a professional stencil artist Joshua has been in over 65 exhibitions both in Australia and in Japan and had 6 major solo exhibitions. Outside of exhibition work Joshua has done over 400 custom order artworks usually having a waiting list for 5-6 months. Joshua's artwork revolves around many genres of subject matter from comic books, to pin up and burlesque imagery to pulp novels from the 1940's and 50's. Joshua has exhibited in many of the top galleries in Australia including ChinaHeights Gallery in Sydney, the Bakery Art Rage Complex in Perth and Per Square Metre Gallery in Melbourne. Joshua has also had the honour of exhibiting along with world renowned artists such as Evol, Logan Hicks, Fremantle, Shag, Glen Barr, and Niagara.

Joshua's work has also been featured in many publications including IDN (international Designers Network) Magazine, Habit Magazine, DB magazine, Adelaide Matters, The Advertiser, Entropy and many others. As well as winning awards in Graphic Design in the National AGDA (Australian Graphic Design Association) Awards and the Adelaide Art Director's Club Awards. Joshua has also been nominated for the prestegious 2008 Adelaide Fringe Eran Svigos award for Best Visual Arts Exhibition by an Individual.
